About Me
Bio
My name is Cristian Camilo Rodriguez, however, I go by Camilo. I am a User Experience and User Interface Designer from Des Moines, Iowa. I recently graduated from the UX/UI Immersion Program through Thinkful, a remote learning platform, in April of 2021.
Prior to discovering the opportunities at Thinkful, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa with a minor in Spanish. I was born in Bogota, Colombia and moved to the United States in 2003. I am fluent speaker and writer in Spanish and English. I have worked in many industries throughout my life, and I have always been dedicated to productivity and how to maximize it to the fullest.
In addition, I am extremely interested in human productivity as it relates to design and art. My academic hobbies consist of artificial intelligence, game theory, aspects of the golden ratio, virtual reality, augmented reality, robotics, application and website development, human psychology, 3D animation, coding, philosophy, and world history. My personal hobbies consist of music engineering and production. I find great pleasure in designing audio tracks on the digital audio workstation, Ableton Live.
What I particularly enjoy about the field of UX/UI Design and the field of design in general, is the ability to create useful tools that benefit others. I believe that technology will continue playing an ever-increasing role in the development of humanity. Furthermore, using our unique creativity, perspective and intelligence as humans combined with the knowledge and expertise that other designers have left behind, the real-life applications that are in development for a more inclusive, user-friendly, efficient, and emotionally positive digital landscape are endless. Knowing that the possibilities are truly boundless, is what keeps me engaged in design and the yearning to learn and create more.I am proficient in design software programs such as Slack, Figma, Miro, Webflow, Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator.
I am confident that I would be a valuable addition to any User Experience Design Team because of my skills crafting research surveys that target usability needs, conducting usability tests and analyzing user observations. My abilities include applying the information compiled from various research methods into a design that is efficient and user-centric.
During my time at Thinkful, I worked in a Lean UX / Agile Design environment and have successfully conducted surveys and interviews to better understand users. For instance, most recently, I developed a card sorting study for webpage design and received qualitative data to improve the page for the benefit of the user.
My short-term goals in 1-2 years are to find a unique niche of designers or an agency that can guide me in my path as a UX Designer, as well as secure stable employment in the UX field. I am willing to relocate if the opportunity to do so ever presented itself to me as I am an avid traveler and love to explore new places.
